Employment & Activities Coordinator

YMCA Northamptonshire

Working at YMCA Milton Keynes & Northamptonshire is more than just a job, it’s a chance to make a difference, an opportunity to be part of making a positive impact on local young people in our community.

In Autumn 2024 YMCA Northamptonshire launched a new supported housing project specifically for young people leaving care. We provide a welcoming and safe place for young people to live as well as a range of support services to help them into employment and move towards an independent future.

Working alongside our Supported Housing Coaches this role focuses on supporting our residents at Derngate with their personal development, which includes identifying any educational, training and employment needs, motivating young people to explore their individual interests and getting them to engage in activities that support their development, health and well-being. This role is also our internal social prescriber, connecting residents with non-medical support, to help improve their social skills, tackle social isolation, and develop a positive sense of self.

To support these aims the E&A coordinator will create and manage a varied timetable of activities including physical sports, therapeutic art and independence building activities , which build self-confidence, self-esteem and lead to the overall development of residents’ skills in these areas.

The ideal candidate will have a background in running skills-based workshops including sports activities and will ideally have a related qualification. It’s also essential to have experience in supporting adults into employment, ideally within a similar setting. A motivation and passion for working with young people and an understanding of the challenges they face will also be vital.

The role is 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Our team is key to us in achieving our goals and we value and invest in all our employees to ensure that collectively, we provide the best support possible to our young people to help them reach their potential.

Along with a competitive salary we offer many employee benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave increasing by a day a year up to 30 days
  • Regular training and development opportunities
  • 5% employer contribution into a pension scheme
  • Life Insurance benefit x 4 salary
  • Health Cash Plan

YMCA Milton Keynes & Northamptonshire is an equal opportunities employer. An Enhanced DBS check is required.
